Anbau is a design within the studio of Raum und Gestalt at TU Graz. As simple as the structure seems, the debates behind kept the work ongoing. Do we glorify existing decay? How can we preserve and what do we extend? The simple addings to the former sport facility building, created many debates in the realm of preservation, fetishism, and glorification of imperfection.
This project positions itself as a rather joyful extension to the building which hides - and tends to be overseen. Small elements left over, exaggerated to take the rotten materials not too seriously, but also making them back alive. It turns the inside outside. The materials are all simply ready-mades, but bent, turned, doubled – to make a new composition.
